GUIDE TO INERTIAL NAVIGATION SYSTEMS

INERTIAL NAVIGATION SYSTEMS

An Inertial Navigation System (INS) is a tool used for navigation that utilizes computer motion sensors like accelerometers and gyroscopes and sometimes magnetometers to continuously determine the position orientation and speed of movement of a moving object through reckoning without relying on references. Essentially an INS enables self navigation by tracking the vehicles acceleration and rotation rates in relation to its position and orientation.
In summary Inertial Navigation Systems play a role in enabling self navigation capabilities across a range of fields from aviation to everyday tech devices.
